Case Study: Eaton achieves a centralized, near-real-time data hub with MarkLogic

A MarkLogic Case Study

Preview of the Eaton Case Study

Eaton from a Data Lake to a Data Hub

Eaton, the global manufacturing company, was struggling with a complex IT landscape and fragmented operational data spread across more than 200 ERP sources, multiple transformation layers, and data lakes. The result was a lack of a centralized, near-real-time, standardized view of product, revenue, and channel data. Eaton turned to MarkLogic and its Operational Data Hub (ODH) pattern to address the challenge.

MarkLogic implemented a flexible data hub architecture that let Eaton consolidate and version data without losing important local ERP fields. In a proof of concept, MarkLogic helped Eaton achieve a 4.2x acceleration, cutting an effort that had taken more than two years down to just six months. MarkLogic also simplified deployment and enabled faster, more agile delivery of usable data, and Eaton plans to expand the hub to finance, manufacturing sales and orders, and supply chain data.
