A Markforged Case Study
Vogel Druck, a Höchberg, Germany-based printing services firm, faced rising material costs and long lead times for replacement parts on legacy machines. After seeing parts produced by a service provider on Markforged equipment, the company decided to bring additive manufacturing in-house to cut costs, reduce downtime, and build internal know-how using the Markforged Mark Two 3D printer.
Vogel Druck deployed Markforged Mark Two printers and trained staff to design and print spare parts, jigs, and fixtures, enabling same-shift repairs (a recent replacement printed in four hours vs. a 6–8 week supplier lead time). The move delivered measurable gains: about €82,000 saved in nine months, over 90% per-part savings (a machine “finger” fell from ~€450 to €3.50, saving roughly €20,000/year), up to 20% more machine mileage, faster setup and response times, and expanded use of Markforged across the company.
