Todema, an Italian designer and manufacturer of custom machinery and plants, needed a faster and more controllable way to produce the many prototypes required for its highly customized projects. Traditional machining and subcontracted prototyping created bottlenecks, added cost, and took valuable CNC time away from final part production.

Markforged’s Digital Forge platform, using continuous fiber reinforcement (CFR), gave Todema an in-house additive manufacturing solution for prototypes and end-use parts with aluminum-like strength and strong dimensional accuracy. According to Todema, Markforged helped cut production time and costs by 80%, reduced a six-part conveyor assembly to two components, and freed up more CNC capacity for the team.
