Tiny Pilot 3D Printing for Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) over IP devices

Tiny Pilot, a Massachusetts-based startup founded by Michael Lynch, launched in July 2020 to provide an affordable KVM-over-IP remote management device. As requests for pre-built units grew, Tiny Pilot needed an affordable way to design and mass-produce durable, professional-looking cases; the team worked with UMass Amherst’s ADDFab, which used Markforged printers (Onyx One, Mark Two) and Onyx material to address that need.

ADDFab 3D‑printed Tiny Pilot’s cases and USB ports on Markforged equipment using Onyx carbon‑fiber material, producing durable parts with a high-quality surface finish. The Markforged solution allowed Tiny Pilot to enter the market at low cost without sacrificing a premium look, enabled scalable production of pre-built devices, and provided ongoing flexibility and convenience through outsourced 3D printing.
