A Markforged Case Study
Tecron, a Prague-based manufacturing and engineering specialist for automotive and aerospace customers, faced the challenge of low-volume, high-variety production of legacy and prototype parts—components that required metal-grade strength and intricate geometries not possible or cost-effective with traditional subtractive methods. After evaluating options, Tecron selected Markforged and its Metal X platform because it met their criteria for ease of use, durability, accuracy and cost-effectiveness for metal printing.
Using the Markforged Metal X, Tecron produced 17‑4 PH stainless steel parts — including a complex aircraft nozzle and a three-part carburetor assembly for Škoda Motor — to-spec without redesigning critical features or resorting to costly EDM. The Markforged solution eliminated long lead times, preserved performance-critical geometry, and delivered the parts at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods while speeding prototyping and validation for partners like the Czech Aerospace Research Centre.
