SQP Engineering, a family‑owned manufacturing shop in Perth, Australia, was losing opportunities because some specialised mining parts were too expensive or impossible to machine and their older polymer 3D printer produced poor surface finish and nine‑hour print cycles. To address this, SQP evaluated additive options and adopted Markforged solutions, notably the FX20 composite 3D printer and the Metal X metal 3D printing system.

Markforged’s FX20 and Metal X enabled SQP to print production‑quality wireline counter covers and other parts that couldn’t be machined, cutting print time for the cover from 9 hours to 2.5 hours and producing 100 parts to date.
