Case Study: Meduna achieves small-batch, high-precision copper induction coils with Markforged Metal X

Meduna, a Czech heat-treatment plant that runs small-batch production and makes its own tooling, faced limitations producing induction hardening coils from bent copper tubing—small diameters were difficult to form and manual shaping made repeatability a challenge. Markforged (introduced to Meduna by partner 3Dwiser) recommended the Metal X system and the use of pure copper printing to address these constraints.

Using the Markforged Metal X to 3D print pure-copper induction coils (with help from 3Dwiser), Meduna produced small, intricate coils with internal cooling geometries that were impossible to form by hand. The printed coils required less post-processing, delivered more precise and consistent tooling, successfully hardened the required surfaces, and enabled Meduna to accept jobs it previously could not.
