McService, an Italian automation and industrial machinery specialist founded in 2007, faced growing demand for prompt, flexible delivery of bespoke machine components that were previously outsourced. After meeting Markforged in 2019, McService aimed to bring production in-house using Markforged’s X7 printer and composite materials (Onyx with carbon fiber continuous reinforcement) to gain control over lead times, costs, and design flexibility.

Partnering with Markforged, McService began 3D printing templates, fixtures, grippers and custom machine components on the X7 using Onyx and carbon-fiber reinforcement, achieving metal-like performance with greater design freedom. The Markforged solution cut lead times from days to hours, lowered part costs by up to 10× versus traditional production, streamlined the supply chain, and accelerated design iteration—boosting McService’s competitiveness and enabling plans to expand its fleet of Markforged printers.
