Labman - Customer Case Study

Labman Automation, based in North Yorkshire, designs and manufactures bespoke robotic systems for labs and industry but struggled when an unreliable FDM printer forced costly third‑party outsourcing (about £1,000/month and eight‑day lead times), slowing prototyping and deliveries. To solve this, Labman turned to Markforged and its Eiger cloud-based 3D printing workflow to bring reliable, high‑quality additive manufacturing back in‑house.

Markforged provided desktop printers (printing in Onyx and with continuous carbon fiber) plus on‑site support and Eiger software, enabling Labman to rapidly prototype and produce end‑use parts at customer sites. As a result Labman scaled from one to six Markforged printers, reduced a balance‑pan part cost by 75% after five iterations, eliminated much outsourcing and long lead times, and now routinely prints hundreds of durable, good‑looking parts per system with improved heat and chemical resistance.
