Humanetics needed durable, dimensionally precise molds for thermoset plastics that could withstand significant clamping forces and sustained heat (around 220°F), but their prior out-of-house silicone process was slow and costly. To solve this they turned to Markforged and adopted the Markforged X7 platform to produce in‑house molds.

Markforged printed molds using Onyx and HSHT fiberglass, delivering high-temperature (up to 302°F/150°C) durability, precision surface finish, and much faster turnaround. The result: molds that are about 4× cheaper and 2.5× faster to produce—fabrication time dropped from 144 to 60 hours (58% reduction) and cost from $1,000 to $240 (76% savings)—demonstrating clear performance and cost benefits from Markforged’s solution.
