A Markforged Case Study
Garry Rogers Motorsport, Australia’s oldest motorsport team, struggled with slow, costly outsourcing and no CNC capability for the complex, low-volume parts their CFD-driven designs demanded. To produce strong, high-detail components in-house, the team invested in a carbon fiber 3D printer from Markforged, giving engineers a way to iterate faster and manufacture parts that traditional subtractive methods couldn’t economically produce.
Markforged’s carbon fiber 3D printing solution enabled Garry Rogers Motorsport to print jigs, fixtures and end-use parts (steering wheel handles, gearbox housings, camera mounts) and patterns for fiberglass molds, delivering measurable impact: 325 end-use parts printed and reported 92% cost and 92% time savings. A brake duct pattern that previously cost $1,000 AUD and took two weeks was produced in-house for $75 AUD in 24 hours, freeing time for R&D, reducing assembly steps, and helping the team improve car performance.
