Forging a Promising Future through Vocational Training

Goierri Eskola, a technical education center in Spain’s Basque Country that collaborates with 18 municipalities and 40 companies, needed a simple, accurate and accessible metal 3D printing solution to launch a master’s program in additive manufacturing and to expand industry partnerships. After an exhaustive search, the school selected Markforged and its Metal X system to meet those requirements and integrate metal printing into its technical laboratory and curriculum.

Markforged delivered the Metal X (a Metal FFF printer plus wash and sinter systems), enabling Goierri Eskola to produce real-world metal parts in 17-4PH and H13 steels, support student final-year and master’s projects, and take on industry work. Using Metal X they were subcontracted on a European project to make a >1 kg tool with internal cooling channels (compared against SLM with impressive results), increased participation in funded projects, and expanded high-value services to local companies—while benefiting from Markforged’s Eiger software and Markforged University for rapid learning and adoption.
