Case Study: Dana Incorporated achieves accelerated development and 70% tooling cost savings with Markforged

A Markforged Case Study

Preview of the Dana Incorporated Case Study

Dana Incorporated has successfully placed Markforged printers in several of their global facilities

Dana Incorporated, a 115‑year‑old Fortune 500 mobility supplier with 36,000 employees in 33 countries, sought to expand engineers’ ability to rapidly ideate and prototype more efficiently. To drive that shift, Dana turned to Markforged (customer since 2018), investing in Markforged X7 and Metal X systems and evaluating additive workflows and materials like Onyx, continuous carbon fiber, and 17‑4 PH stainless steel.

Markforged implemented a global solution of printers, Enterprise Eiger software, and Markforged University training across seven countries, enabling faster iteration and scaled tooling production. The collaboration produced measurable gains—examples include forming dies and workholding fixtures that delivered 70% cost savings and a 90% reduction in lead time per fixture—while more than 150 Dana employees completed Markforged training and helped evolve Markforged’s products and services.
