Case Study: Arc34 achieves high-strength, low-cost GoPro mounts with Markforged 3D printing

A Markforged Case Study

Arc34 cuts part costs 100x and prints 30x faster with Markforged

Arc34, a developer of high-performance camera mounts, faced a challenge in creating a strong and secure GoPro enclosure that could withstand extreme conditions like high speeds and water immersion. Early prototypes using materials like sheet metal, ABS, and PLA were unsuccessful. They turned to Markforged and its 3D printing technology to find a solution.

Using a Markforged printer and Onyx material reinforced with continuous fiberglass, Arc34 found the perfect solution that met their strength requirements without prohibitive cost. This allowed them to bring their PDQ Mount to market. The Markforged solution resulted in parts that were 30 times faster to produce and 100 times lower in cost, with the company reporting zero product returns due to defects. Their Markforged printer became a workhorse, running constantly for both end-use part production and rapid prototyping.
