How Square and MarketMan Helped Bruegger’s Bagels Streamline Point-of-Sale and Inventory

Bruegger’s Bagels, a fast-casual bakery with nearly 300 locations, faced a forced upgrade when corporate stopped supporting its legacy Windows XP point-of-sale systems. Franchisee Dan Krueger and operating partner Tonya Springer needed an intuitive, mobile-friendly POS and an integrated inventory solution that eliminated paper counts, provided ingredient-level tracking, and gave better visibility into food costs. They chose Square for POS and MarketMan for cloud-based inventory management.

MarketMan was implemented alongside Square by entering recipes and linking menu items so sales automatically deducted ingredient inventory, enabling mobile weekly counts on iPads and phones and simultaneous counting by multiple staff. The MarketMan integration removed manual data entry, let managers log into multiple locations remotely, and cut menu/pricing update time from days to seconds, improving control, forecast accuracy, and operational convenience.
