How Elk Grove Police Department Uses Mark43 CAD’s Open API to Enable Seamless Integrations—Including Drones as First Responders—for Faster, Smarter, and Safer Emergency Response

Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD), a midsize agency in Sacramento County, California, needed a way to improve officer safety, situational awareness, and response efficiency while managing about 85,000 calls for service each year. As a longtime Mark43 CAD and RMS customer, EGPD was looking for a core system of record that could integrate easily with other technologies and support faster, more informed emergency response.

Using Mark43’s open API and Mark43 CAD, EGPD integrated its drone program so certified pilots could listen to live 911 calls, auto-populate location data, and deploy drones as first responders in seconds. The result was faster scene awareness, better tactical decision-making, and improved resource allocation, with Lieutenant Nate Lange estimating an efficiency gain of about 20%. Mark43 also made it easy to add a “DFR” tag for tracking program impact and to continue expanding integrations for even greater operational value.
