ESDiario, a leading Spanish-language digital publication in Spain, struggled as readers migrated to mobile: by 2018 80% of traffic was mobile but the site was slow, confusing, and causing declining ad revenue. In June 2018 they partnered with Marfeel to implement a fully customizable mobile platform and integrate programmatic technology alongside their direct-selling ad model to quickly improve the mobile experience.
Marfeel rebuilt ESDiario’s mobile experience to boost speed, engagement and viewability, and the impact was dramatic: pages per session +25%, bounce rate -16%, average sessions +117% and visits per day +242%. Monetization rose sharply — daily mobile revenue +716%, ARPU +139%, eCPM +77.53% while AdReq/page view fell ~44.31% — and mobile now accounts for 90% of ESDiario’s traffic, demonstrating Marfeel’s user-first solution delivered higher revenue with fewer ads.
