Food and Beverage Company, a publicly held corporation and real estate developer, was leading a mixed-use urban revitalization project that included a hotel, restaurants, retail stores, catering operations, and special venues. To support the launch, the company needed Marcum LLP to help bridge its hospitality and real estate expertise gap, especially around restaurant and retail operations, system integration, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance from day one.

Marcum LLP assembled a multidisciplinary team to integrate restaurant and retail systems with the general ledger, document policies and procedures, provide interim accounting support, and implement SOX-compliant controls. Marcum also assisted with reconciliations, monthly close, financial reporting, daily dashboards, impairment testing, and staffing recommendations. The result was a stronger operations and controls environment, remediation of several control deficiencies, and avoidance of a material weakness; the relationship continued for more than 18 months due to the value delivered.
