Douglas Machine, Inc., an employee-owned manufacturer of custom and standard integrated packaging equipment, needed to replace an aging phone system and support more flexible communication across its growing business. The company wanted to move from traditional copper lines to VoIP, add features like caller ID and call tracking, and upgrade its network infrastructure to handle higher bandwidth, Power over Ethernet, and improved wireless access for on-site users.

Marco Technologies implemented a Cisco-based VoIP solution that included Cisco Small Business Voice System, Unified Communications Manager, Unified Messaging, Unified Presence, and Unified Contact Center Express, along with new PoE network gear, wireless upgrades, and about 450 Cisco phones. The rollout was smooth, with a two-week training period before cutover, and employees quickly adopted the new system. Douglas Machine gained easier call handling, soft-phone access for remote workers, and reduced long-distance costs, while Marco Technologies delivered one of the company’s smoothest major technology implementations.
