Alexandria Public School - Customer Case Study

Alexandria Public School District, a growing Minnesota school system serving 650 staff members, wanted to create a 21st century learning environment by launching a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. The district needed a way to give students and teachers secure wireless access to district resources and online learning tools while supporting personal devices in the classroom.

Marco Technologies, working with Cisco, helped Alexandria Public Schools design and implement a new wireless infrastructure with 150 access points across nine buildings and capacity for up to 2,000 users, along with a Cisco content filtering appliance. The upgrade was seamless with no network downtime, and traffic jumped from 100 to 1,200 users overnight. Since then, the district has seen strong BYOD adoption, improved collaboration, and better access to web-based learning tools like Google Docs and Schoology.
