Case Study: Comcast improves infrastructure damage assessments with Mapware UAVs

A Mapware Case Study

Preview of the Comcast Corporation Case Study

Mapware Works with Comcast to Improve Infrastructure Damage Assessments with UAVs

Mapware worked with Comcast Corporation after Hurricane Matthew to assess damage to communications infrastructure in the Savannah, GA area. Comcast needed a faster and safer way to identify where assets had been damaged across a wide disaster zone, since traditional ground-based inspections were slow, risky, and hard to coordinate after the storm.

Using UAVs and custom data-processing systems, Mapware mapped 160 square miles with 150 flights over 6 days and pinpointed 117 damaged sites with exact coordinates. After Comcast requested higher-resolution imagery, Mapware adjusted its flight plan to deliver more detailed data for field teams, helping speed damage assessment and repair prioritization while improving safety and response time.
