Making Airport Travel a Seamless Passenger Journey YYC Calgary International Airport

YYC Calgary International Airport, welcoming more than 18 million travellers annually, faced the limitations of static maps and needed a digital solution to reduce passenger anxiety, provide real‑time flight and gate information, support bilingual navigation, and drive non‑aeronautical revenue. To meet these goals, YYC partnered with Mappedin to replace static wayfinding with an interactive, passenger‑centered mapping platform.

Mappedin deployed its Mappedin for Airports solution—an indoor map with real‑time flight panels, parking and walking‑time guidance, POI details with mobile ordering links, bilingual UI, accessible routing, and QR‑based route sharing for volunteers and staff. The implementation improved passenger experience (guests report the maps are user‑friendly), enabled volunteers to generate and share routes in seconds, and positioned YYC to boost retail and dining opportunities while optimizing operations as the airport continues rolling out enhancements with Mappedin.
