Alleviating Student Stress at University of Ottawa With Maps

The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law needed a way to reduce student stress and improve safety and accessibility by helping students and visitors find classrooms, study spaces, restrooms and accessible routes across complex indoor spaces. Seeking a device-agnostic, AODA-compliant solution that could prioritize ramps and elevators and scale to future features like room bookings, the Faculty engaged Mappedin to provide an indoor mapping platform.

Mappedin implemented its Responsive Web App with Blue Dot Wayfinding, embedding interactive, real-time indoor maps on the Faculty of Law website so users can search, see their exact location, and follow step-by-step accessible directions. The Mappedin pilot delivered an enhanced digital experience that reduced navigation confusion and stress for students and guests, proved easy to use and accessible, and is now slated for broader rollout across the university.
