Worcester Polytechnic Institute uses Maple to help students meet demands of intensive courses

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) worked with Maplesoft to help students manage the demands of intensive calculus courses. Faced with a diverse first-year class with widely varying academic and computer backgrounds, WPI needed a way to get everyone up to speed quickly and make complex math concepts easier to grasp. The school used Maple to support its mathematics education program.

Maplesoft’s Maple created a more interactive, discovery-led learning environment through weekly calculus labs, helping students explore graphs, derivatives, and advanced topics more easily. The result was faster and deeper conceptual understanding, less stress around heavy coursework, and improved collaboration among students. While no specific numerical metrics were given, WPI reported that Maple significantly helped students work through their course load more effectively.
