Ryerson University student wins a midterm mark replacement with Maplesoft’s Maple

Ryerson University, a customer of Maplesoft, faced a challenge when a computer science student struggled with his physics coursework. The student, failing his midterm exam, proposed a unique challenge to his professor, who was an advocate of Maplesoft's Maple software. He offered to recreate the entire physics midterm as an interactive Maplet application within Maple in exchange for a replacement grade.

The solution was implemented by the student using Maplesoft's Maple and its Maplet technology to build a graphical, point-and-click interface for the exam problems. With some tips from Maplesoft, he successfully completed the assignment. The result was that the student earned the promised grade replacement, transformed his academic performance, and became an avid Maple user. Maplesoft's tools enabled a creative educational solution that turned a student's weakness into a strength.
