Case Study: Royal University of Bhutan improves mathematics education with Maplesoft Maple

Royal University of Bhutan’s Sherubtse College, through its Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, wanted to improve mathematics education across Bhutan at all levels. Working with vendor Maplesoft, the college identified Maple as a tool that could help students better understand math concepts and extend its impact beyond the university into the country’s school system.

Maplesoft supported the initiative by helping train 15 secondary school math teachers during a three-day Maple workshop and by donating Maple licenses to six participating secondary schools. The result was that teachers returned to their schools ready to use Maple in class, improving both teaching and learning through visualization and interactive math tools. The college is now working toward a broader goal of having all secondary schools in Bhutan using Maple within five years.
