High School Teachers Across Denmark Prepare Students for Post-secondary Education Using Maple

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), in conjunction with the Danish Ministry of Education, identified a significant gap between high school and university-level mathematics education. To help students bridge this gap and be better prepared for post-secondary STEM studies, they sought a solution and partnered with Maplesoft.

Maplesoft's solution was the integration of its Maple software into the high school (Gymnasium) math curriculum across Denmark. This initiative, which saw Maple adopted in 110 of the country's 160 high schools, better prepared students for university by familiarizing them with the same tool used at DTU. The results included increased student awareness of mathematical concepts and their applications, leading to greater knowledge retention. A major measurable impact was the enhanced quality of a mandatory final-year project, where students use Maple to research and report on a mathematical application, fulfilling a ministry mandate.
