Guatemala Professor Champions Technology Tools in Education by Introducing Maple to His Class and University

Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala was looking for an online learning solution to strengthen mathematics education and help students bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and newer technology tools. Professor Ranferi Gutierrez turned to Maplesoft’s Maple software to bring computer-based instruction into his calculus and vector analysis courses.

Maplesoft helped Gutierrez create Maple-based assignments, study guides, and tutorial videos that let students interact with 2-D and 3-D graphs, calculus concepts, and equations in a more visual, hands-on way. The result was broader adoption across the university as other instructors recognized Maple’s value; it is now used in many courses and has helped simplify and improve the efficiency of STEM education for students and professors alike.
