Case Study: Erie County achieves faster, more accurate property reappraisals with Mapillary

Erie County - Customer Case Study

Erie County faced a challenging six-year reappraisal of properties on Kelleys Island, a remote island in Lake Erie accessible only by ferry or small aircraft. To get up-to-date photographic and parcel information that would integrate with their appraisal workflow, the Erie County Auditor’s Office partnered with Mapillary to capture street-level imagery using Mapillary’s API (v3) and imagery services alongside Bruce Harris & Associates’ Paperless Reappraisal System (PRS) and ArcGIS Online.

Mapillary-equipped staff captured high-resolution, street-level photos of the entire island in an eight-hour drive-by session, and the imagery was integrated via the Mapillary API into BHA’s PRS for parcel-by-parcel review. The Mapillary solution allowed appraisal managers and data-entry teams to verify building grade, condition, and materials without costly site visits, improving data quality and consistency and streamlining the county’s reappraisal workflow.
