Celebration with Open Data Making Lithuanian Road Imagery Available to Everyone

The Lithuanian Road Administration needed fresh, up-to-date visual information across its national network to better manage highways and road assets. Working with the Road and Transport Research Institute, they captured 360° imagery across 21,244 kilometers using the Ladybug 5 camera system and prepared the dataset for hosting on Mapillary.

Mapillary hosted the 4 TB photolog in the cloud, enabling public distribution as open data, lowering storage costs, and simplifying integration with other applications. As a result, the Lithuanian Road Administration gained full-network 360° coverage (21,244 km) of current road visuals to support maintenance and future planning, with measurable outputs including the 4 TB upload and network-wide imagery availability on Mapillary.
