Red Star Yeast, LLC, a world-leading yeast manufacturer with its large Cedar Rapids plant, was managing maintenance and inventory with Excel spreadsheets that prevented concurrent access, hid parts availability, caused duplicate purchases, and made work-order tracking laborious. To solve these issues, Red Star Yeast selected MAPCON and its MAPCON CMMS product to replace the spreadsheets.
MAPCON implemented its CMMS—introducing keyword inventory search, minimum-part triggers with automatic requisitions, and streamlined electronic work-order creation and dispatch—which eliminated duplicate buys, improved parts availability, reduced machine downtime, and saved supervisor time. As a measurable impact, the MAPCON system has processed roughly 120,000 work orders and has been rolled out to five sites.
