Case Study: The FCC achieves neighborhood-level broadband transparency with Mapbox GL JS and Geocoding

A Mapbox Case Study

Preview of the The FCC Case Study

The FCC - Customer Case Study

The FCC needed a way to map broadband speed and availability across the U.S. down to the neighborhood level, but the scale was massive: billions of vector combinations and tens of millions of records from hundreds of providers. Using Mapbox GL JS and Geocoding, the FCC built a detailed broadband deployment map to help consumers and policymakers understand where service exists and where gaps remain.

Mapbox helped The FCC visualize and search a huge custom dataset reliably on a single map. The result was a clearer, more actionable blueprint for broadband planning and accountability, enabling the FCC to identify where service is strong, where it is missing, and where communities are at risk of falling behind.
