Skyscanner Helping travelers navigate COVID-19 restrictions by country

Skyscanner, the global travel search site, needed a way to help users navigate rapidly changing COVID-19 entry rules and quarantine requirements so they could see where they could travel without quarantining. With 193 countries/regions to manage and roughly 37,000 possible origin–destination states, the challenge was delivering daily-updated, origin-aware restriction data in a map that loads quickly, pans and zooms smoothly, and keeps geopolitical borders crisp at all zoom levels.

Skyscanner built a live, interactive map powered by Mapbox’s Tiling Services and Tilesets API to render per-country restriction data and quarantine rules, plus a sign-up for travel updates. The result is a fast, device-friendly map updated daily that clearly displays entry and quarantine information by origin, letting travelers plan and book trips safely and with confidence.
