Power BI needed a better way to visualize and explore geospatial data in its business intelligence workflows, from broadband speeds and restaurant patterns to factory and mobility data. To solve this, Power BI used the Mapbox Visual for Power BI to add map-based analysis capabilities to Microsoft Power BI.

Mapbox enabled Power BI users to create heat maps, clusters, graduated circles, and 3D extrusions, layer multiple datasets, and work with customizable map styles. The result was faster, more interactive location intelligence, including vector maps that render at 60 frames per second and the ability to explore tens of thousands of data points smoothly.
