Picnic is a fast‑growing, app‑only grocery service that delivers from a fleet of custom Electric Picnic Vehicles across the Netherlands, France, and Germany, promising 20‑minute delivery windows to hundreds of thousands of customers. Because their vehicles have unique speed limits and dimensions, off‑the‑shelf navigation produced inappropriate routes and timing errors, so Picnic needed a customizable, scalable navigation solution they could deploy quickly and iterate on.

Using Mapbox, Picnic built a tailored routing experience with the Mapbox Navigation SDK for in‑app turn‑by‑turn directions, the Directions API for dispatch route planning, and fully customizable map styling to highlight buildings and house numbers. The result: more accurate trip planning, safer and more efficient drives, reduced drive time per delivery, higher on‑time delivery rates, and better driver utilization.
