Nexar makes plug-and-play dash cams and a companion app to capture video evidence for road safety, but needed to give drivers a seamless, branded navigation experience that also leverages crowd‑sourced road imagery and simplifies incident reporting. The challenge was to integrate turn-by-turn navigation, real‑time map data and insurer workflows without forcing users to switch apps, while also enabling cities to access anonymized street-level insights.

By embedding the Mapbox Navigation SDK, Nexar augmented its app with customizable, real‑time maps, proactive rerouting and a richer visual view of the road powered by crowd-sourced images. Incident footage can be sent directly to insurers and Nexar’s City Stream layers anonymized dash-cam captures for city planners—delivering a unified in‑car experience, faster claims handling, and actionable data to improve road safety.
