LocusLabs - Customer Case Study

LocusLabs builds precise 3D indoor maps and wayfinding tools to help travelers navigate airports and large campuses. The company faced a common airport problem: hurried passengers miss retail and dining opportunities because they don’t know what’s nearby or how long it will take to get back to their gate, reducing non-aeronautical revenue and increasing traveler stress.

By integrating Mapbox, LocusLabs ingests GIS and CAD data to create detailed indoor maps and offers APIs/SDKs for airlines to push turn-by-turn directions, arrival thumbnails, and real-time notifications. The result was a marked boost in engagement—sessions two minutes or longer rose 2.9X (7.6% to 23%) and sessions one minute or longer doubled (20.4% to 40.7%)—helping airports and airlines improve passenger confidence and retail capture.
