IPPEN.MEDIA is one of Germany’s largest news networks and a pioneer in online media, producing interactive election maps for more than 70 news outlets. Their challenge was to visualize fast-moving, constituency- and municipality-level Bundestag election results in real time across many platforms while enabling readers to explore local details and compare current and historical outcomes.

Working with Mapbox, IPPEN.MEDIA built Mapbox GL JS–based interactive maps that deliver live updates, toggleable layers, and historical comparisons. The solution scaled across hundreds of articles and 70+ portals, reached millions of users, and gave journalists a dynamic framework for cross-media coverage and in-depth public engagement during the election.
