Amazon Conservation Team - Customer Case Study

Mapbox and the Amazon Conservation Team supported Terrastories, a geostorytelling initiative addressing a pressing challenge: indigenous communities in the South American rainforest face modernization, deforestation, and resource extraction that threaten both the forest and the preservation of oral history, language, and culture.

Terrastories is a user-friendly mapping app that lets community members add places and oral histories, set privacy or access restrictions, and work fully offline so remote areas need no internet. The tool has helped schools and communities teach history, geography, language and culture more effectively while giving communities control over documenting and protecting their traditions.
