Preview of the Walgreens Boots Alliance Case Study

Walgreens boots alliance achieves immediate inventory savings and improved service levels

Walgreens Boots Alliance, a leading European retail pharmacy and pharmaceutical wholesaler operating across 20 countries with ~3,200 stores and 370 depots, needed to redesign its European logistics and replace multiple proprietary replenishment systems. The goal was a proven, upgradeable forecasting and replenishment platform that would reduce inventory, improve service levels and replenishment processes, exploit buying opportunities, and give clearer visibility of stock value across a large supplier base.

Walgreens selected Manhattan Associates’ Demand Forecasting and Replenishment solutions and deployed them across Europe, starting in the UK and rolling out to other countries and nearly 1,000 suppliers. The implementation enabled highly accurate forecasts for hundreds of thousands of SKUs, automated order suggestions, faster exception handling and advanced reporting—resulting in lower inventory, fewer stock-outs, improved customer service and measurable productivity gains.
