A Manhattan Associates Case Study
Shaw Industries, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer with about $4.8 billion in annual sales and 33 U.S. distribution centers, faced rapidly growing transportation complexity. RFPs for trucking took months, inbound/outbound visibility was limited, and aging systems plus manual processes prevented timely planning and optimization.
By deploying Manhattan’s Transportation Procurement, Visibility (EDI) and TMS, Shaw cut RFP turnaround to 6–8 weeks and began running quarterly bids, automated planning across its network, and gained real-time in-transit updates between carriers and RDCs. The result: better planning and execution of inbound/outbound transportation, improved delivery service levels, stronger capacity and cost control (with shipping costs stabilized or reduced), and a foundation for further tools like yard management.
