Pet Supplies Plus Lays a Foundation for Growth with Manhattan’s Supply Chain Platform

Pet Supplies Plus, a specialty pet retailer with about 300+ neighborhood stores, underwent major change after new ownership—shifting from an all-franchise model to owning and operating many stores and consolidating two distribution centers into a single 800,000 sq ft DC. To support roughly 7,500 SKUs and meet goals to standardize processes, boost productivity, improve order accuracy and reduce inventory, the company needed a flexible forecasting and replenishment platform that could scale with future business changes.

Pet Supplies Plus selected Manhattan’s integrated supply chain suite (Inventory Optimization, Warehouse Management, Labor Management, Slotting Optimization and Supply Chain Intelligence) and deployed Inventory Optimization in five months with minimal customization. Results included an 8–10% reduction in DC inventory, improved inventory turns, DC-to-store fill rates of about 94–95% (exceeding service targets by nearly two points), better forecast accuracy and a platform flexible enough to support ongoing growth.
