Case Study: Orvis achieves reduced overstock and improved inventory productivity with Manhattan Associates' Replenishment and Planning solutions

A Manhattan Associates Case Study

Preview of the Orvis Case Study

Orvis continues tradition of providing products for distinctive country living with new supply chain solutions

Orvis, the U.S.’s oldest direct marketer founded in 1865, sells fly-fishing gear, apparel, home goods and more through catalogs, 50+ retail stores and a broad multi-channel network. Rapid retail expansion and a complex assortment left the company with poor visibility, slow store turns and excessive overstocks—making it hard to match inventory to channel demand and maintain customer service.

Orvis implemented Manhattan Associates’ Advanced Planning and Replenishment suite to unify multi-channel planning, share inventory across channels and automate replenishment decisions. The solution improved visibility and prioritization, enabled transfers between locations, and quickly identified roughly 40% overstocks in stores. Results include higher inventory productivity, reduced overstock purchases, improved fill rates and better customer service while freeing planners to focus on strategic exceptions.
