Case Study: Celadon Trucking achieves network-wide efficiency and reduced admin costs with Manhattan Associates' Carrier solutions

A Manhattan Associates Case Study

Preview of the Celadon Case Study

Manhattan Carrier™ solutions keep Celadon trucking in high gear

Celadon Trucking, an Indianapolis‑based carrier founded in 1985, operates more than 3,000 trucks across 12 terminals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and historically handled roughly 150,000 annual border crossings. When the recession cut freight volumes from key customers, Celadon faced the dual challenge of maintaining expansion while moving planners off paper-based, local decision‑making and fully leveraging its existing Manhattan CarrierTM systems.

Celadon trained and persuaded planners to let Manhattan’s Driver&Load and related tools drive decisions, giving a network‑wide view that reduced subjective choices and exposed hidden deadhead costs. The shift enabled growth without adding planners, cut the admin staff‑to‑driver ratio by 9%, reduced customer service headcount by more than 7.5% while improving on‑time delivery rates, freed planners an extra hour per day, and delivered broader operational visibility — with further rollout of Drop&Swap planned.
