Chinese supermarket chain QKL Stores expands business with Manhattan SCALE

QKL Stores is a NASDAQ-listed regional supermarket chain based in DaQing, China, operating 39 stores across northeastern provinces and planning aggressive expansion to 100+ stores. To support that growth it replaced a manual 43,000 sq. ft. DC with a new 211,000 sq. ft. automated regional distribution centre and needed a sophisticated logistics platform that could be deployed quickly and lower total cost of ownership.

QKL deployed Manhattan SCALE in the new RDC, implemented in about three months, to automate picking (pallet, carton, split-case), enable cross-docking and flow-through, and integrate with RF and ERP systems. The result was higher distribution capacity, improved inventory accuracy and productivity, streamlined transportation, reduced operational costs and TCO, faster ROI—and the capability to scale operations as QKL opened additional stores.
