Buyers Products, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer and distributor of truck and trailer components, outgrew manual, paper-based warehouse processes after moving into a new 150,000 sq. ft. distribution center. The company needed to automate warehouse and outbound functions, better manage inventory flow, and meet customer demands for EDI, compliance labeling and ASNs.
Buyers implemented Manhattan SCALE alongside a new ERP (with assistance from Manhattan Associates and True Fit Systems) to automate receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing and shipping. As a result, order processing rose 70–80% (now 140–170 LTL/TL orders per day), small-parcel orders nearly doubled to about 1,000 per day, productivity grew faster than labor (company +50% vs labor +20–25%), and customer service improved through system-driven replenishment and real-time order tracking.
