Case Study: Alliance Boots achieves inventory reduction and fewer stock-outs with Manhattan Associates’ Demand Forecasting and Replenishment

A Manhattan Associates Case Study

Preview of the Alliance Boots Case Study

Alliance Boots achieves immediate inventory savings and improved service levels with Manhattan solutions

Alliance Boots, formed from the 2006 merger of Alliance UniChem and Boots Group, operates a large European pharmaceutical wholesale and retail network—about 3,200 retail outlets and 370 depots serving 135,000 customers across 20 countries. After the merger it needed to redesign its European logistics and replace disparate proprietary replenishment systems to reduce inventory, improve service levels, standardize replenishment processes and gain clearer visibility of stock value.

The company implemented Manhattan Associates’ Demand Forecasting and Replenishment solutions across the UK and Europe, integrating close to 1,000 suppliers and supporting hundreds of thousands of SKUs. The deployment delivered more accurate forecasts, automated replenishment suggestions, fewer stock-outs, lower inventory levels and measurable productivity gains for planners—all while maintaining high customer service.
