Case Study: CIVICUS achieves a secure, connected global civic network with MangoApps

A MangoApps Case Study

Preview of the Civicus Case Study

How CIVICUS uses MangoApps to strengthen civic space around the world

CIVICUS is a global alliance of more than 12,500 individual and organizational members working to strengthen civic space, especially across the Global South. Facing a shift from a centralized Secretariat-led model to member-driven collaboration, CIVICUS needed a secure, multilingual platform that would let activists and organizations connect safely (beyond WhatsApp and Facebook), verify identities in restricted civic spaces, share resources, and deliver training—so they selected the MangoApps platform, including its Member Directory and LMS capabilities.

MangoApps delivered a customized, secure digital workplace with verified user access, instant translation, voice-enabled posts, a Member Directory, and an LMS module. The platform was piloted with 500 members and generated 700+ applications for online training, enabling grassroots groups like Mbiame New Vision to access funding, resources, and global collaboration. MangoApps’ responsive support and ongoing updates helped CIVICUS scale distributed engagement, increase member autonomy, and improve measurable access to learning and funding opportunities.
