A Mandiant Case Study
Penn State Health, a multi-hospital healthcare system employing nearly 18,000 people and serving 29 counties, faced the challenge of protecting patient care, research and regulated data from phishing, ransomware and other cyber threats while managing rapid growth and a patchwork of legacy systems. To strengthen its defenses and meet HIPAA obligations, Penn State Health partnered with Mandiant and adopted the Mandiant Advantage platform and modules — including Mandiant Advantage Threat Intelligence and Mandiant Advantage Security Validation — along with Mandiant Managed Defense.
Mandiant implemented Security Validation to test and optimize controls, delivered actionable threat intelligence through the Advantage platform, and provided 24x7 Level 2 monitoring and response via Managed Defense. As a result, Mandiant helped Penn State Health streamline access and analysis of threats, improve threat modeling, strategic planning and governance, extend off‑hours monitoring without adding staff, and reduce the risk of disruptions to clinical operations and patient care.
