A Mammoth Case Study
The University of Birmingham, a major research institution, faced a challenge in elevating its global reputation to achieve its ambition of becoming a top 50 university. Its brand had lost direction with multiple sub-brands and inconsistent visual elements, failing to reflect its scale and values. The university engaged the vendor Mammoth to deliver an institution-wide brand transformation project to address this.
Mammoth developed a new bold brand positioning, "activate with intent," and created a flexible design system informed by extensive stakeholder engagement. The solution was implemented across all university departments and touchpoints. To introduce the new philosophy, Mammoth produced an emotive Open Day film that built an immediate connection with prospective students. The work successfully connected the university's proposition and styling through brand experience, creative content, and campaigns.
